This clinical study was based on 75 cases of pathologically proved breast cancer during 11 years from August, 1963 to April, 1974 at S.N.U.H.
The result was as follows.
1) The most frequent age group was from 40 to 49 years in 25 cases{33.3%) and mlae were 2 cases. But the male cases were not included in 75 cases.
2) 36 cases out of 75 cases visited hospital within 6 months after discovery of tumor mass. 3) The frequent symptoms and signs were as follows;. palpable breast mass in 74 cases,
palpable axillary lymph node in 34 cases, pain.and tenderness in 22 cases:
4) The most frequent initial symptom was painless breast mass in 63 eases.
5) The mass was located in the right side in 39 cases and left side in 39 cases.
The most frequent site of location was upper outer quadrant and the least frequent site was
lower inner quadrant. .
6) Axillary metastasis was present in 30 cases out of 46 cases in the lateral half (65.2%),
12 cases out of 18 cases in the medial half and central portion (66.7%).
7) 33 cases were in stage 1, 23 cases in stage 11, 14 cases in stage 1, 5. cases in stage N. 8) In this hospital radical´ operation was performed as possible. X-ray irradiation, Cobalt
therapy, oophorectomy and adrenalectomy were also performed if indicated.
